PEER GROUP MEETING SUMMARY
Summary of IDA Peer Group
August 2nd, 2022
·
We
met at the Ritzdorf and there were seven IDA Peers and three REACH staff
including our summer intern present.
·
We
began with introductions that included names and asset that each person is
saving for. This led to further discussions of resources, ideas, and questions
being answered.
·
Our
group consisted of small business, vehicle, education, and home buyer savers.
Some of business ideas range from a tee shirt business targeted at grandparents
for their grandchildren, and another was interviewing women
business owners in their business restrooms. Follow “rushhourintheladiesroom”
on Instagram.
·
We
introduced an idea that a Peer had for our group. Would we like to create a
Charter and have “dues,” set goals, have a club name, and officers of the club?
The club could discuss applying for Grants and use the money for a civic
project or possibly assisting Savers that need to pay fees or get a license of
some kind, but those are just some ideas. Please put some thought into this and
we will address it at our next meeting.
·
We
agreed to share emails of the group attendee’s and I will include them.
·
We
shared resources and I will include them as well.
·
Sandra
gave us permission to share an article she wrote and was published in The
Salvation Army – WarCry. Here is the link to the issue. The name of the article
is The Kindness of Christians, A woman’s Journey through Homelessness and is in
the January 2022 issue titled The Army & The Roses: https://www.thewarcry.org/magazines/
