Summary of our last meeting
1. Introductions – We made our
introductions and welcomed two new Savers to our group.
2. ROC (Residents Organizing for Change)
talked about what they do and how folks can get involved. They are working on
their own Bill, and it should be introduced next session. Universal Basic
Income (UBI) is what it’s about and came from their conference last year. First
time this is being proposed in Oregon. Ballot Party on October 11th
from 1:30p – 3:30p. Very important measures coming up. NW Pilot Project has
been trying to do a UBI but haven’t been able to yet. We encouraged all who
attended to think about getting involved with ROC. Please reach out if you have
any questions about this. They have a standing meeting called RUCKUS every
other Tuesday. It’s a Zoom meeting and the next one is Tuesday the 27th at 1:30pm. Please contact Reyna at rgillet@neighborhoodpartnerships.org or Rebekah at rmarkillie@neighborhoodpartnerships.org for more information.
3. Look for lists of new bills related
to houselessness and/or affordable housing – I will be doing this ongoing and
if I see something that I think we should discuss I will bring it to you.
4. Computer classes at Grey’s Landing
the next 3 weeks. This is open to all REACH residents. The next one is the 19th
and then the 26th and the last on October 3rd. It’s from
10:30am – 12N in the Community Room. This will cover Computer basics, Cell
phones, Laptops & tablets and other basic, but important computer skills. Please
let me know if you have any questions.
5. Please check out our Blog and check
it often. The site is oridaknow.blogspot.com
6. Next meeting will be Monday, October
10th, 2022 @ 10am at the Ritzdorf.
YUP! I was at the Computer Basics class and helped with one of the attendees resolving some issues with his iPad. I had to dig deep to remember what little I know about Apple products, but I managed to muddle through. :)
